Glossary

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is the most widely used resin for extrusion blown plastic bottles. HDPE is economical, impact resistant, and provides a good moisture barrier. HDPE is compatible with a wide range of products including acids and caustics but is not compatible with solvents. HDPE can be supplied electro-treated or flame-treated by request so that it can be ready for silk screen decoration. It can also be fluorinated, which hardens the resin and makes it more durable when filled with certain products.

Post Consumer Resin (PCR) is a blend of reclaimed natural HDPE (primarily from milk and water containers) and virgin resin. The recycled material is cleaned, ground and re-compounded into uniform pellets along with prime virgin material especially designed to build up environmental stress crack resistance.

Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) is similar to HDPE in composition. It is less rigid and generally less chemically resistant than HDPE, but is more translucent. LDPE is used primarily for squeeze applications. LDPE is significantly more expensive than HDPE.

Polypropylene (PP) is a naturally translucent material which provides contact clarity and an excellent moisture barrier. PP is easily processed via injection molding. Most of the components of Spray Triggers are made with PP.

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
is naturally clear, has extremely good resistance to oils, and has very low oxygen transmission. It provides an excellent barrier to most gases and its drop impact resistance is also very good. This semi-rigid material is also very chemically resistant, but it is vulnerable to solvents.

PETG is a durable material with excellent gloss, clarity and sparkle desired for clear bottles. PETG can be processed via conventional extrusion blow molding methods, generally on machines designed to process PVC.

EnviroKind™ - Delta Industries blends up to 25% PCR with new HDPE to make EnviroKind™ resin. By doing this we are helping to conserve resources and helping to limit landfill waste. EnviroKind tm is a registered trademark of Delta Industries

FOB - Freight on board. The recipient takes ownership of product when the truck leaves the FOB dock point, and freight charges are paid by the customer.

PPD - Prepaid. Freight charges are paid by the shipper.

PPD - Prepaid and Add. Freight charges are paid by the shipper and then added to the invoice.

LTL - Less than truckload.

FTL - Full truckload.

Flourinated - HDPE bottles treated with a mixture of fluorine gas and air, or exposed to fluorine gas in a secondary operation, which have exceptional barrier properties to hydrocarbons and aromatic solvents. Fluorine treated HDPE plastic bottles also resist penetration by oxygen and carbon dioxide. Fluorine treated plastic bottles are excellent for use with insecticides, photographic chemicals, agricultural chemicals, household cleaners, waxes, paint thinner and gasoline.

OEM - Original equipment manufacturer.

Shipper
- A Spray Trigger that will not leak when tipped on its side or upside down. This means that spray bottles filled with liquid may be shipped safely.

Output - The amount in CC’s (cubic centimeters) a sprayer dispenses per trigger pull.

CC - cubic centimeter.

Adjustable Nozzle
- the nozzle may be adjusted from closed to spray to stream.

Indexing Nozzle
- has different settings for spray, stream or off.

The Plastic Bottle Material Code System

Recycling has been aided by the creation of The Plastic Bottle Material Code System. This system is designed to be easy to read at a glance and distinguishable from any other marking on the bottom of a container

Neck Finish is designated by the diameter of the opening in mm and then thread description as shown.
Ie: Most of Delta Industries bottles and Spray Triggers have a “28/400” neck finish.
